Egyptian mandarins are a multi-variety category that lets buyers run continuous easy-peel programs from December through April. Fremont opens the season with deep colour and a slightly tart edge. Minneola — the tangelo cross with its distinctive neck — peaks through January and February with juicy aromatic flesh. Murcott (sometimes labelled Marcott) closes the season into April, intensely sweet and aromatic. All three are smaller and less spherical than common oranges, with thin easy-peel rind suited to private-label retail bags and clamshells.
